Associate Director, Provider Advocacy and Policy

Summary

The Associate Director, Healthcare Provider Advocacy & Policy will be responsible for the strategic assessment and communication of changes to the US policy and regulatory environment, and provider advocacy strategy. Desired position location is either Washington, DC or Bothell, WA. This role will be responsible for holistic management of interaction with external oncology provider advocacy groups. The successful candidate will identify and prioritize critical projects to drive joint objectives that address patient needs by partnering with advocacy groups like the Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC), Community Oncology Alliance (COA), oncology state societies, and other stakeholders. The role requires understanding how these key advocacy groups engage with and influence the external healthcare policy landscape.

In addition to serving as a key member of the Global Value & Access team, the Associate Director will develop and maintain a high-level of collaboration with all cross-functional stakeholders, including Market Access, Pricing, Market Insights, franchise leads, and the Innovation Center. The position requires a self-motivated individual that can work efficiently cross-functionally to accomplish objectives.

Principal Responsibilities:

• Build strong relationships with provider advocacy groups to develop specific partnership opportunities that advance Seagen strategic objectives
• Directly manage advocacy projects, programs, and events, including internal and external coordination, funding, and communication
• Provide impactful points of connection for HCP advocacy groups to internal Seagen stakeholders
• Efficiently and effectively serve as a liaison to the HCP advocacy community by collaborating directly with multiple internal colleagues across commercial and medical teams, as needed
• Monitor the external healthcare policy environment, and policy positions important to HCP organizations, and analyze information that would potentially impact Seagen’s business interest (e.g. pricing, Part B, Part D, ACA)
• Identify opportunities to partner with external organizations to advance aligned priorities as well as anticipate implications for Seagen’s portfolio
• Communicate emerging priorities, including US policy and regulatory initiatives and key insights of HCP advocacy organizations to executive leadership and throughout the organization
• Work with other stakeholders within GVA to develop and inform portfolio-wide strategies around advocacy to further Seagen priorities

Required Qualifications:

• 8+ years of industry/relevant professional experience in Pharmaceutical, Biotech or Life Sciences industry
• Proven leadership working with regulatory and legislative bodies and with provider and/or patient advocacy groups
• Deep understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, Pricing, and Access healthcare policy issues
• Demonstrated cross-functional leadership, influencing without formal authority and collaboration skills including successful execution of complex and innovative projects
• Must possess excellent
organizational savvy and communication skills. This includes ability to communicate new or evolving changes in policy and regulatory requirements to a broad internal audience and provide strategic input to cross-functional teams
• Demonstrated understanding of how to effectively escalate issues/concerns, as well as how to most effectively communicate up, down and across the organization orally and in writing
• Experience in oral and IV specialty products and specialty product launches required
• Bachelor's degree required

Preferred Qualifications:

• MBA or other relevant advanced degree preferred
