Scientist, Cancer Therapeutic Discovery
Research - Bothell, Washington
Description
Seattle Genetics is an emerging global multi-product biotechnology company that develops and commercializes innovative antibody-based therapies for the treatment of cancer. The company’s industry-leading antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) technology harnesses the targeting ability of antibodies to deliver cell-killing agents directly to cancer cells. In addition to one marketed product, we are advancing a strong product pipeline of novel therapies for solid tumors and blood-related cancers designed to address significant unmet medical needs and improve treatment outcomes for patients.
Summary
We are seeking an innovative scientist with a deep understanding of cancer biology and strong experience with antibodies to help advance our pipeline in antibody-based oncology therapeutics. The ideal candidate will be a capable laboratory-based experimentalist able to design and execute a research strategy in a collaborative environment. The candidate will conduct research in cancer biology to include elucidation of disease mechanisms, identification and validation of targets, design and characterization of candidate therapeutics, and determination of drug mechanism of action. Additionally, the candidate will develop technologies needed to advance projects from concept to clinical testing.
Responsibilities:
- Design and execute comprehensive experimental plans focused on identification and validation of cancer therapeutic targets and mechanisms of action.
- Nominate and evaluate novel targets, mechanisms, and formats for therapeutic intervention.
- Characterize antibodies to support selection of therapeutic leads, using flow cytometry, cell-ba
sed assays, and in vivo studies.
- Develop methods and technology platforms to support therapeutic antibody discovery and development, such as in vitro assay systems to model in vivo conditions.
- Collaborate effectively within a team and interface with other divisions to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced work environment.
- Work independently, stay abreast of the cancer biology literature, and act as an expert scientific resource.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. and 2+ years of research experience in industry or academics.
